In doing some quick research today I found a nice article that shows how to replace the fuel filter on your 2004-2008 Ford F-150.

On my truck the fitting going into tank side of the filter was different than in the article. Mine had a colored plastic piece that was flush with the rest of the fitting. I used a small screwdriver and pushed inward on the colored piece and pull back on the line at the same time to release it.
